As the title of this paper suggests “The Healing Panchatantra”, this paper proposes an idea of including the five medicinal treatises in the modern holistic healing studies as a part of IKS. The word "Panchatantra" means the "Five Principles" or "Five Treatises" in Sanskrit. This research provides a collective analysis of five cornerstone texts that form the basis of India's medical and yogic heritage: the Charaka Samhita, Ashtānga Hridayam, Sushruta Samhita, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. These works, spanning Ayurveda and Yoga traditions, encapsulate holistic philosophies devoted to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, with roots tracing back to the Vedas and centuries-old indigenous practices. Charaka Samhita, by Charaka, organizes Ayurvedic medicine, focusing on understanding causes, immunity, metabolism, and the balance of doshas. It suggests personalized diets and seasonal routines for health. The Astanga Hridayam, by Vagbhata, combines earlier Ayurvedic knowledge and promotes daily routines in harmony with nature. The Sushruta Samhita, by Sushruta, advances surgery by detailing techniques, instruments, anatomy, and listing numerous diseases and medicinal plants. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali outline an eightfold path for self-realization and liberation, while the Hatha Yoga Pradipika focuses on physical practices for health. Modern yoga therapy uses these structured methods. Collectively, these texts emphasize integrative, preventative, and ethical approaches to health that remain relevant for contemporary holistic healthcare and wellness systems. They bridge ancient wisdom and modern needs, offering living models for integrative medicine, health education, and the cultivation of mental and spiritual balance.
