This study explores the interconnection and relevance between the philosophy of Samkhya-Yoga and health and wellness in modern times. The ancient Indian philosophical text Samkhyakarika presents the foundational metaphysical framework of the Samkhya system, outlining the dualistic ontology of Purusha and Prakriti, that is consciousness and matter/nature, and the evolution of the twenty-five tattvas (principles). The Patanjali-yoga system builds upon Samkhya metaphysics, propounding a practical methodology for the cessation of mental modifications (Città-vritti-nirodha) and the path to liberation (Kaivalya). This study investigates the philosophical wisdom, psychological implications, and empirical evidence supporting yoga as a preventive and therapeutic health model. This paper postulates the integration of yoga into modern healthcare and wellness initiatives, emphasizing its ability to foster resilience, regulate emotions, manage chronic diseases, and promote an overall balanced lifestyle.
